Total of 43,994,247 Voters Eligible to Vote in the 21st National Assembly Elections

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced a total of 43,994,247 voters are eligible to vote in the 21st National Assembly elections.

 

This is equivalent to 84.9 percent of the total population of 51,843,268 as of the date used as the standard for drawing up the voters list and included 26,048 overseas voters. The number of voters rose by 1,893,849 from the 42,100,398 voters that were eligible for the 20th National Assembly elections.

 

Based on the nationwide voters list (43,968,199 voters), there are 1.15 million eligible voters aged 18 or 19 (2.6 percent), 6.8 million eligible voters in their 20s (15.5 percent), 6.99 million eligible voters in their 30s (15.9 percent), 8.36 million eligible voters in their 40s (19.0 percent), 8.65 million eligible voters in their 50s (19.7 percent), 6.44 million eligible voters in their 60s (14.6 percent), and 5.57 million eligible voters aged 70 or older (12.7 percent).

 

By gender, 21.79 million men (49.6 percent), 22.17 million women (50.4 percent) are eligible, and by region Gyeonggi Province has the largest number of eligible voters at 11.06 million (25.2 percent), and the Sejong Special Self-Governing City has the lowest number of eligible voters at 260,000 (0.60 percent).

 

The nationwide voters list is drawn up of voters who have a resident registration in their relevant Gu/Si/Gun as of March 24 and anybody who changes their residency after March 25 and wishes to vote on election day they should vote in the jurisdiction of their previous address.    

 

During the early voting period (April 10 to April 11), voters can cast their ballot at any early voting station around the country without separate registration.
