Voter Turnout for the April 2 Re and By-elections Recorded at 26.3% |

The National Election Commission announced that the overall voter turnout for the re and by-elections held on Wednesday, April 2, was 26.3%. Out of a total of 4,620,908 eligible voters, 1,214,740 voted in the elections. This round of re and by-elections was held in a total of 23 constituencies, including: - 1 Superintendent of Education (Busan) - 5 heads of local governments (Seoul Guro-gu, Asan-si in Chungcheongnam-do, Damyang-gun in Jeollanam-do, Gimcheon-si in Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Geoje-si in Gyeongsangnam-do) - 8 metropolitan council members - 9 local council members Among all candidates, the highest voter turnout was recorded in the Goheung-gun local council re-election (Constituency Na) in Jeollanam-do at 63.8%, while the lowest turnout was seen in the Seoul Jungnang-gu local council by-election (Constituency Da) at 11%. The voter turnout for the Busan Superintendent of Education re-election was 22.8%.
As for the election results: *The following names are spelled based on pronunciation and may differ from their official English spellings - Kim Seok-jun was elected Superintendent in the Busan education chief re-election.
The following candidates were elected as heads of basic local governments: - Jang In-hong in the head of a Seoul Guro-gu office by-election, - Oh Se-hyun in the Asan-si mayoral re-election (Chungcheongnam-do), - Jeong Cheol-won in the head of a Damyang-gun office re-election (Jeollanam-do), - Bae Nak-ho in the Gimcheon-si mayoral re-election (Gyeongsangbuk-do), - Byun Gwang-yong in the Geoje-si mayoral re-election (Gyeongsangnam-do).
Meanwhile, in the Gyeongsangbuk-do Metropolitan council re-election (Seongju-gun constituency) and the Damyang-gun council by-election (Constituency Ra) in Jeollanam-do, only one candidate ran in each race. As a result, the candidates were elected without a vote. The term of office for elected candidates in the re and by-elections begins immediately upon confirmation of election and lasts for the remainder of the original term.
