The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy within the National Election Commission announced the recruitment of citizens who are interested in the electoral and political systems as ‘civil research officers’. The ‘civil research officer’ system has been planned to invigorate practical and future-oriented research on the electoral and political systems, including people’s experience of the election/political party/political fund systems in their daily lives as well as in elections. Civil research officers to be newly recruited will undertake research, focused on the areas of election/political party/political fund and especially also on the areas of those systems/policies that they will find will need improvements during the upcoming local elections. Civil research officers will be given a small amount of research fund and will be able to attend workshops and seminars hosted by the KOCEI for better research. In addition, civil research officers who produce a good research report will be awarded a letter of commendation and a cash prize (maximum KRW 1 million for the best report). Any Korean citizen interested in research on election/political party/political fund may apply and the deadline for application is March 7. Applications can be submitted via the websites of the NEC (http://www.nec.go.kr) and the KOCEI (http://www.civicedu.go.kr). The KOCEI kindly requested for active participation by those who are interested in research on the electoral and political systems. |
