| 15 constituencies to hold July 30 repeat/by-elections for members of the National Assembly |

According to the National Election Commission, the repeat/by-elections to be held on July 30 are going to take place in 15 constituencies for members of the National Assembly and 1 for a member of a local council. The said 16 constituencies are ones where a cause for an election such as the invalidation of the election of candidates, resignation, passing away, etc. has occurred and been confirmed since October 1, 2013 until June 30, 2014. The elections for members of the National Assembly take place for the following cause(s) in the following districts: - Invalidation of the election of a candidate: 4 districts including Suwon-si B, Pyeongtaek-si B, Taean-gun Seosan-si and Hwasun-gun Naju-si; and - Resignation, etc.: 11 districts including Dongjak-gu B, Gijang-gun A Haeundae Gu, Gwangsan-gu B, Daedeok-gu, Namgu B Ulsan, Suwon-si C, Suwon-si D, Gimpo-si, Chungju-si, Gokseong-gun Suncheon-si, Damyang-gun, Hampyeong-gun, Yeonggwang-gun and Jangseong-gun. It turned out that the National Assembly members from the relevant districts had resigned to run for elections of heads of local governments such as Si mayors/Do governors, etc. An election for a member of a local council is only going to be held in Suwon-si H. p Candidate registration from July 10 and early voting for 2 days from July 25 (Fri) to 26 (Sat) Candidate registration occurs for 2 days from July 10 to 11 at the election commission in the districts holding elections while official campaigning commences from July 17. Early voting takes place from 6 am to 6 pm on July 25 and 26 and early polling stations are established in each Eup/Myeon/Dong holding elections. Those with severe disabilities who are not able to visit (early) polling stations should apply for mail-in voting from July 8 to 12 to cast a vote at their own residence. Voting hours on election day are from 6 am to 8 pm, allowing 2 more hours than for elections held at the end of the term of office. |
