41,296,228 confirmed as voters for June 4 local elections

According to the National Election Commission, the number of voters to cast a vote in June 4 local elections has been confirmed as 41,296,228, 80.4% of the entire population.

The figure shows an increase by 6.3% (2,445,069), from 38,851,159 voters for 2010 local elections. The number of male voters is 20,446,197 while that of female voters reaches 20,850,031.

Gyeonggi-do has 9,679,317 voters - the largest number of all areas - followed by Seoul with 8,441,594 voters and Busan with 2,932,179 voters. 467,182 voters are registered in Jeju Special Self-governing Province and 101,559 in Sejong Special Autonomous City.

Eligible voters for local elections include those aged over 19 who are registered as residents and who have been registered as domestic residents for more than 3 months and foreigners granted permanent residence for more than 3 years as of the date for the preparation of the voters list.
