According to the National Election Commission, campaign posters have been put up on the wall of buildings and noticeboards that can be easily seen by voters. A campaign poster contains a candidate’s photo, career experience, academic background, political view and others necessary to promote him/her, which enables voters to compare information on candidates just standing on the street. If career experience, academic background, etc. indicated on campaign posters is found false, anyone may file an objection with the relevant Election Commission. The NEC asked voters to take extra caution as those who tear off or scribble on campaign posters for no legitimate reason may get sentenced to an imprisonment or a fine of less than KRW 4 million. The NEC intends to organize/run teams composed of the Election Surveillance Unit from each Gu/Si/Gun Election Commission and increase patrol of the jurisdiction to keep campaign posters intact. Meanwhile, campaign booklets of candidates are to be sent along with the voting guide to each household by May 25 and early voting is to be conducted for 2 days from May 30 to 31. |
