Political fund donation via smartphone expanded to PFAs for National Assembly members

Date :11/24/2014Read : 164

The National Election Commission launched a ‘political fund donation via smartphone system’ to make available contributions to political fundraising associations for National Assembly members through smartphone.

The ‘political fund donation via smartphone system’ enables people to make political contributions in an easy and convenient way through the ‘Smart Bill’ app installed on their smartphones from anywhere and at anytime just as they pay communication fees or other utility bills.

The NEC expects that this system will serve as a new means of making political contributions as the number of smartphone users now reaches 39 million and people become more smartphone-dependent in their daily lives.

SKT users can assess the system through the relevant app installed on their smartphones and LGT and KT users can do so by installing the ‘Smart Bill’ app.

However, public officials and teaching staff of private schools banned from becoming a political party member are not allowed to make contributions to political fundraising associations and can only make a deposit as a political fund with the Election Commission.

The NEC plans to constantly promote the system to encourage all PFAs for members of the National Assembly to register with the ‘political fund donation via smartphone system’ to increase voters’ convenience in making contributions while asking for people’s keen interest and participation to develop sound democratic politics and invigorate many small contributions.
