2.49 Million Voters Participated in the Early Voting of the Re and By-Election, Showing the Turnout of 20.54%: 21.95% for Seoul Mayoral By-election, and 18.65% for Busan Mayoral By-election | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced that during the early voting period of re and by-election from April 2nd to 3rd, 2,497,959 voters out of the 12,161,624 eligible voters cast the votes, which reached 20.54% voter turnout.
The figure is 0.4 % higher than that of the 7th nationwide simultaneous local elections that took place in 2018: the number of 1,849,324 early voters for Seoul mayoral by-election marked 21.95% turnout, and 547,499 for Busan, which was 18.65% turnout.
Comparing with other turnouts of early voting, the Bosung-gun council election in Jeonnam had the highest turnout of 35.07% and Paju-si council election in Gyeonggi province marked the lowest turnout of 5.96%. Apart from those turnouts, the number of voters who cast their votes outside of their registered residence of Gu/Si/Gun was 343,507 and it reached 13.8% of the whole early voters. Also from the special early voting polling stations that were setup in the six care centers for the COVID-19 confirmed patients in Seoul and Busan, 274 voters in total cast their votes.
