Noh Jeong-hee Inaugurated as 21st NEC Chairperson |

In her inauguration speech she said: The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea held a meeting of the full commission on November 2 where Noh Jeong-hee was elected as the 21st Chairperson of the NEC and an inauguration ceremony was held.
In her inauguration address, Chairperson Noh said she feels a heavy sense of responsibility especially considering the NEC’s constitutional obligations, but she said that as long as she listens to the voices of the people while firmly keeping the foundation of neutrality and fairness, which are the key values of election management she would be able to fulfill the NEC’s mission which is achieving the development of democracy and social integration through elections.
In addition, she stressed that neutral and fair election management is the foundation for realizing national sovereignty in representative democracies, and there should be no consideration of a specific political party or political group in the NEC carrying out its constitutional obligations.
Chairperson Noh said that making advances in the political law system is also an important task, and she highlighted that there is a need to improve the election system so that citizens can enjoy the maximum basic political rights whilst also ensuring free and equal opportunity.
