Date :04/14/2025Read : 35

The National Election Commission (NEC) has confirmed the key administrative schedule for the 21st presidential election, following the designation of June 3 as the official election day.

The registration period for overseas absentee voters will close on April 24, which is 40 days prior to election day.

Candidate registration will be open from May 10 to 11, even though these dates fall on holidays. Public officials intending to run as candidates must resign from their positions by May 4.

The electoral register will be compiled over a five-day period from May 6 to 10. During the same period, voters may also submit applications for absentee voting (due to residence) and shipboard voting.

The official election campaign period will last 22 days, from May 12 through June 2, the day before the election.

By May 17, campaign posters must be displayed in public locations with high foot traffic, such as building exteriors. Booklet-type election bulletins must be distributed by May 20, and leaflet-type bulletins along with voting guides must be delivered to households by May 24.

Meanwhile, overseas voting will be conducted from May 20 to 25 at Korean diplomatic missions around the world. Shipboard voting will take place from May 26 to 29, and early voting will be held over two days from May 29 to 30. Early voting hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while voting on election day will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
