held the 9th International Symposium

= Subject: Civic Education for Integration of the Korean Peninsula=

Korea Civic Education Institute for Democracy (KOCEI) of the National Election Commission of Republic of Korea (NEC) held the 9th Korea-German International Symposium on the topic of「Civic Education for Integration of the Korean Peninsula」at the KOCEI building for two days from July 3th to 4th 2013.

The Symposium was founded in 2005 by KOCEI and the German Federal Agency for Civic Education to seek measure for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula and social integration. Through the meeting which marks the 9th anniversary this year, the two organizations have looked at German experiences in the integration of political parties and their foundations as well as their roles in the process of social integration.

The symposium this year had three sessions during which experts from Korea and Germany made presentations and had discussions in regards to the subject matter.

KOCEI said that it will make an effort to contribute to revitalization of civic education on election and politics as well as advancement of democracy in politics based on various examples and issues discussed in the Symposium.
