AAEA Held Executive Board Meeting and Donated $10,000 to Relief Efforts for the Philippines
The Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA) had 2013 AAEA Executive Board Meeting at the Republic of the Philippines from November 11 to 13. ![]() The agendas of the meeting included the recommendation of AAEA membership application submitted by the Election Commission of Maldives and the Central Election Committee of Uzbekistan and the discussion on measures to vitalize the AAEA. Also, among the discussions by the Board were the various joint project plans to cooperate with newly launched A-WEB whose establishment was led by the National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea (NEC). In addition, following the proposal by the NEC, the chair, the AAEA joined forces to support for the Philippines, significantly damaged by Super Typhoon Haiyan. In response, the AAEA donated $10,000 to the Commission on Elections of the Philippines (COMELEC) for disaster recovery. The AAEA was founded in 1998 and currently consists of 17 members. Korea was elected the chair in 2011 and has been leading the association since then. ![]()
