The NEC had a ceremony for the 50th anniversary and the 2nd Voter''s day

= Unveiled new CI of the NEC that means a new leap forward in the ceremony for the 50th anniversary =

The National Election Commission (NEC) held a ceremony for ''the 50th anniversary of the NEC and the 2nd Voter''s day'' in COEX auditorium on May 10.

The chairperson of the NEC, Mr. Lee In-Bok gave congratulatory remarks saying that the NEC has made every effort in realizing true democracy via fair elections with the public for last 50 years. As a result, the Republic of Korea has grown as an exemplary democratic state. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the public who has always shown deep trust and supports on the NEC.

The chairperson also said that the NEC will continuously do its best to maintain strict impartiality and manage elections in a fair manner not to distort or defame voter''s precious opinions. He also said that it will lead an electoral culture which will be a festival harmonized with the public.

At this event, President Park Geun-Hye also delivered the congratulatory video message for the 50th anniversary of the NEC. She expressed her hearty congratulations on the 50th anniversary and the 2nd Voter''s day with comments that an election is a valuable bridge between the public and politics: the more it is clean and transparent, the more the willingness of the public will be reflected on the politics. She also said that an election is the memento of promise with the public and politics, if the promise keeps well, trust of the public will be gained as well as the country will be developed further.

She also said that our electoral culture has been improved significantly and the NEC, as a chair of the Association of Asian Electoral Authorities (AAEA), is taking the lead in establishing the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) which will be a tool of helping emerge democracies. All these are made with meaningful contributions of the NEC so she hopes the NEC will play an important role of improving our electoral culture.

The NEC also unveiled its new CI (Corporate Identity) that symbolizes the NEC making a new leap in the event.

The new CI expressed the image of ballot paper as well as public''s hope and choice flying high. It uses the tri-color - red, blue and yellow - which can make every kind of colors by mixing them at several ratios: it means that the NEC will move forward to the newer future by embracing the public''s various opinions.

In addition, the NEC presented its new characters, ''ChamCham'', Baru'' and ''Ali'' to be more familiar with voters.

‘ChamCham’, ‘Baru’ and ‘Ali’ have a meaning of NEC''s roles that are ''Exercising voter''s right'', ''Fair and Justice'' and ''Civil education for democracy and politics'' respectively.
