National Election Broadcasting Debate Commission (NEBDC) held collegiate debate competition

= A place of discussion of future leaders=

NEBDC (Chairperson Lee Jeong-Hee) held collegiate debate competition to celebrate NEC’s fiftieth anniversary in KT training institute located in Daejeon City for 2 days on May 11 and 12.

On the opening day, preliminaries were held in the way of team league 125 teams from 42 colleges participated in. There were pro and con debates among teams organized by 2 people on ‘Reducing the number of members of National Assembly’ to select 64 teams which will advance to next rounds. And 8 teams were sorted out in the title of ‘Adoption of bilateral debate in candidate debates’ in tournament on the second day.



 

Collegiate debate competition is the contest which has been held every year since 2005 to enhance college students’ democratic civic awareness from discussion. Especially this year, the semi final and final debates will be held in a JTBC studio on May 19 and broadcasted on May 26.

Scholarship of 17 million won will be awarded to winners (the grand prize: 7 million, the gold prize: 4 million) of this contest sponsored by KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, JTBC, University News Network and Election Commission of Daejeon City.
